Finance & Administration


The Directorate of Finance and Administration (DFA) is responsible for provision of efficient and effective financial, Human Resource (HR), logistic and administrative services so as to enable TAFORI to achieve its core organizational goals and objectives.

The Directorate works closely with both directorates of Forest Production Research (DFPR), Directorate of Forest Utilization Research (DFUR) and Centres in handling cross cutting issues related to administrative, financial, logistic and human resources management.

The directorate is headed by the Director of Finance and Administration who is the Institute’s chief advisor in all Finance, Administrative and Logistic matters.

The directorate comprises of two Departments, namely Finance, Accounts and Stores and Human Resources and Administration that are manned by Chief Accountant and Human Resource and Administrative Manager respectively


The major function of Finance Department is to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all accounting systems both management and statutory by:

  1. Maintaining proper books of Account
  2. Preparing financial statements in accordance with standards pronounced by the National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA) of Tanzania, laws and regulations in force
  3. Issuing audited financial statements
  4. Budgeting
  5. Provision of financial information as legally required by the Public.


The Human Resource and Administration Department is responsible for human resource management including the management of staff performance, selection and recruitment, labour relations, staff welfare as well as staff training and development.  The department is also responsible for providing timely administrative guidelines and support.

The Institute currently has a total of 142 permanent employees.
